LONDON (Alliance News) - Clean water technology company HaloSource Inc on Tuesday said it has achieved pilot-scale production of its filtration media device, and continues to progress towards full-scale production.
HaloSource said its filtration media was developed for application in gravity-fed devices, such as pitchers, and overcomes the challenge of reducing both colloidal lead and dissolved lead salts from water. The device meets and exceeds standards set by the National Standards Foundation for lead reduction.
HaloSource said its product represents a "major step forward in the application of a cartridge based form for reduction of lead from household drinking water when deployed in a gravity fed application".
Samples of the material will ship to several interested commercial partners by the end of February.
"We are delighted to be progressing toward full-scale production of an entirely new technology to address the issue of heavy metal contamination at the household level," said James Thompson, acting chief executive of HaloSource.
Shares in HaloSource were up 20% at 1.65 pence on Tuesday.
