(Alliance News) - Great Western Mining Corp PLC on Tuesday said drilling has started at its Defender tungsten project in Nevada.
Shares in the Nevada-focused gold, silver and copper explorer were up 9.1% to 3.71 pence at midday on Tuesday in London.
The company said it is fully funded and on track to deliver a maiden mineral resource estimate by the end of 2026. The estimate will include results from a minimum 7,000-foot, or 2,135-metre, drilling programme.
Drill assay results are expected in September and October. Results from a bulk sample metallurgical programme are expected in August.
Chief Executive Officer Ed Loye and Lewis Harvey of Addison Mining Services were on site for the start of drilling.
Loye said: "It is great to see drilling now underway at Defender following a significant amount of preparatory work. From geophysics and geological mapping through to channel sampling and drill pad construction, a great deal of work has gone into reaching this stage and it is very satisfying to see it all come together.
"Investors can look forward to a busy period of news flow, with results from the bulk sample metallurgical programme expected in the coming weeks, followed by drill assays through September and October. Taken together, this work keeps us firmly on track to deliver a maiden MRE by the end of 2026."
