LONDON (Alliance News) - Gfinity PLC said Friday it has signed a two-year sponsorship agreement with News Corp UK & Ireland Ltd's The Sun, securing it as a newspaper and on-line news partner for the UK and Ireland.
The eSports business said the deal will contribute "significantly" towards it achieving its revenue targets in 2015 and 2016.
Under the agreement The Sun will become Gfinity's official partner and title sponsors for the 2015 and 2016 Gfinity Championship Series, as well as sponsor for its weekly on-line tournaments.
Gfinity said it is working with The Sun to develop an electronic commerce platform to sell related merchandise.
"This is not a simple sponsorship agreement but a strategic partnership that will enable both parties to improve, develop and grow the UK's evolving eSports sector," said Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder Neville Upton in a statement.
