Gfinity Partners With Gillette For Football Based ESport Championship

LONDON (Alliance News) - eSports business Gfinity PLC Tuesday inked a deal with Procter & Gamble Co's razor business Gillette to launch a football based eSport competition dubbed 'The Gillette Championship'.

This championship will be a tournament of the videogame Pro Evolution Soccer 2016, starting Wednesday with online qualifiers to identify 24 representatives. The finals will be staged at Gfinity's arena in Fulham Broadway in early July, where the finalists will compete for a share of a GBP15,000 prize pot.

"We're delighted to partner with Gillette and welcome them into eSports. With such rich sporting heritage their move into eSports is a natural fit and we hope to establish a long and rewarding partnership with them. Gillette's involvement is another sign of the growing realisation of mainstream consumer brands of the fantastic opportunity that eSports presents for them to communicate with a young male demographic, that can be hard to reach via other channels," said Chief Executive Officer Neville Upton in a statement.
