Gfinity On Track To Beat Online Views Target For eSports Championship

12th Jun 2015 09:05

LONDON (Alliance News) - eSports business Gfinity PLC said Friday it is on track to beat its target of 50 million online views for its 2015 eSports championship series, as it has generated more than 30 million online views at the half-way point.

This is ahead of management expectations when it listed on AIM last December, Gfinity said.

The championship consist of 25 weekly tournaments held at the Gfinity Arena in Fulham, London. It includes game titles such as 'Starcraft', 'FIFA 15' and 'Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.'

"The progress made thus far reflects both the rapid growth in popularity of eSports and our ability to deliver compelling eSports events and content sought-after by a young, global audience, which is otherwise difficult to reach by advertisers and consumer brands," said Co-founder and Chief Executive Neville Upton in a statement.

Shares in Gfinity are trading down 2.0% at 24.00 pence Friday morning.
