Gattaca hails momentum as annual profit more than doubles

3rd Nov 2026 12:13

(Alliance News) - Gattaca PLC on Tuesday hailed significant momentum after reporting annual profit growth "well ahead" of expectations against a backdrop of macroeconomic uncertainty.

The London-based specialist recruitment company, which focuses on the engineering and technology sectors, said pretax profit for the year ended July 31 more than doubled to GBP5.7 million from GBP2.6 million.

Revenue increased 11% to GBP443.3 million from GBP398.9 million, while net fee income rose 11% to GBP43.2 million from GBP38.8 million.

Underlying pretax profit growth was "well ahead" of its initial guidance of GBP4.0 million. The company said this was driven by "NFI growth, increased sales productivity and our cost control".

Gattaca said productivity initiatives increased net fee income per sales employee by 20% year on year.

Basic earnings per share increased 81% to 12.70 pence from 7.00 pence.

Gattaca declared a final dividend of 4.67 pence, more than doubling from 2.00 pence. Its total dividend for the year was 6.00 pence, up from 3.00 pence a year earlier.

Shares in Gattaca rose 7.6% to 136.05 pence on Tuesday afternoon in London.

Looking ahead, Gattaca expects underlying pretax profit of GBP6.5 million in financial 2027, representing a 14% increase on 2026.

The company said: "We enter financial 2027 with improving momentum and a clear focus on converting progress into sustained earnings growth.

"While macroeconomic uncertainty continues to affect some hiring markets, demand for specialist STEM skills and workforce solutions remains resilient. Increased market share, a broader contractor base and strong client relationships support our confidence in the year ahead."

Chief Executive Officer Matthew Wragg said: "Our continued focus on our strategy, a healthy opportunity pipeline and a robust balance sheet, places us well to continue to build sustainable growth for financial 2027 and beyond."
