Darktrace says Newsroom system is now available in PREVENT product

23rd Feb 2023 10:05

(Alliance News) - Darktrace PLC on Thursday said its Darktrace Newsroom system is now generally available in its Darktrace PREVENT product.

Newsroom is an AI-driven system that monitors open-source intelligence sources to find critical vulnerabilities and asses each organisations' exposure through its "in-depth knowledge of their unique external attack surface". The product then provides mitigation advice so that organisations can remain protected.

The Cambridge, England-based cybersecurity firm said the average time to exploitation of critical vulnerabilities is now just 15 days, and added that traditional vulnerability management is a time and resource intensive process.

The company explained that Newsroom publishes critical vulnerabilities on the PREVENT dashboard, summarising the vulnerability affected software and how many of the organisation's assets run that software. Darktrace claims this removes lengthy manual processes, and augments human security teams.

"Against the backdrop of rapidly expanding attack surfaces and rising numbers of new, critical vulnerabilities, Newsroom is a vital component in a security team's arsenal of proactive capabilities," said Pieter Jansen, senior vice president of cyber innovation at Darktrace.

"When news of a vulnerability hits, security leaders need to know how it affects them specifically before their [chief information security officer], or the Board, demands answers. This latest innovation shows our continued commitment to augmenting human capabilities by combining the intelligence of always-on, self-learning AI with the unique skills of human security teams."

Darktrace shares were up 1.0% trading at 273.87 pence per share on Thursday morning in London.
