Confident Galliford Try boosts dividend as half-year profit surges

17th Sep 2026 10:19

(Alliance News) - Galliford Try Holdings PLC on Thursday launched a new share buyback as improved margins helped drive a bumper increase in half-year profit.

The London-based building and infrastructure construction company said pretax profit jumped 25% to GBP55.0 million in the financial year ended June 30 from GBP44.1 million the year prior, as revenue climbed 3.0% to GBP1.93 billion from GBP1.88 billion. Earnings per share rose 24% to 41.7 pence from 33.7p.

Sales growth was driven by strong performance in Highways and a successful transition to AMP8 in Environment.

AMP8, Asset Management Period 8, is the eighth five-year regulatory and investment cycle for the water and sewerage industry in England and Wales, running from April 2025 to March 2030.

Profitability was supported by "increased volumes, quality delivery and continued disciplined commercial and operational management".

Adjusted operating margin improved to 3.5% from 3.0%, with continued strong progress across divisions.

"We are making good progress towards our sustainable growth targets for 2030 underpinned by disciplined capital allocation and a clear focus on earnings-accretive growth," said Chief Executive Bill Hocking.

Shares in the company jumped 4.6% to 640.00p each in London on Thursday, after earlier hitting an all-time of 650p.

The final dividend was increased 26% to 17.0 pence per share from 13.5p, taking the total dividend to 23.5p, up 24% on-year from 19.0p.

In addition, it announced a GBP15 million share buyback programme, reflecting "our strong cash performance in 2026, our order book and our confidence in the future cash generation of the business."

Looking ahead, the firm said it has performed in line with expectations since the period end and "we are confident in delivering similar revenue growth, and further profitability and margin expansion in the current year as we continue with progress towards our 2030 sustainable growth targets."
