Chugai grants GSK exclusive global license for AID351 dengue antibody

(Alliance News) - Chugai Pharmaceutical Co Ltd on Tuesday announced it has signed an exclusive global license agreement with London-based pharmaceuticals maker GSK PLC.

The Tokyo-headquarterd pharmaceutical company said the agreement grants GSK rights to develop, manufacture and potentially commercialise AID351, an anti‑dengue virus antibody.

Under the deal, GSK will lead clinical development, including phase one trials, while Chugai becomes eligible for royalties and a share of any future sublicensing income.

"By combining GSK's global development capabilities with our innovative antibody engineering technologies, we sincerely hope that new solutions for dengue fever, a serious global health challenge, will reach patients around the world as quickly as possible," said Chugai's President and Chief Executive Officer Osamu Okuda.

The agreement builds on earlier joint work with Singapore research partners and GHIT Fund support.

Shares in Chugai rose 0.5% to JPY6,897.00 in Tokyo on Tuesday while GSK shares ended 1.9% higher at 1,851.50 pence in London on Monday
