(Alliance News) - London-based Burford Capital Ltd on Tuesday announced it has filed for registration with the US Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, to list its shares for trading on a US stock exchange in addition to their current LSE listing.
The global finance and investment management firm however does not intend to issue new shares.
The SEC review process is confidential and of an indeterminate length but is normally a multi-month undertaking.
The company does not expect to update the market on business progress this summer. Its interim financial results for the first half, ended June 30, will not be released until September on a date which will only be announced shortly before the release.
Burford has been represented in the US listing process by Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP, with advice on English law from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP and advice on Guernsey law from Ogier LLP.
Burford shares were up 6.2% at 554.61 pence on Tuesday morning in London.
