Aurrigo International inks deal in Germany to deploy Auto-DollyTug

24th Nov 2023 11:11

(Alliance News) - Aurrigo International PLC on Friday said that it has signed an agreement with the Digital Testbed Cargo Project Consortium to deploy its Auto-DollyTug at Stuttgart Airport.

Aurrigo is a Coventry, England-based autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicle technology provider. The Auto-DollyTug is a zero emission, all-electric autonomous vehicle designed to carry airside baggage.

Meanwhile, the Digital Testbed Air Cargo is a research project funded by the German Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, which explores the basics for setting up and operating digital applications and solutions in air cargo.

Under the terms of the agreement, Aurrigo will deploy the Auto-DollyTug in March of next year for autonomous cargo transport trials from the terminal to the deck of an aircraft. Tests will last for four weeks.

"We are absolutely delighted to win this first deployment in Germany and this is an endorsement of our strategy to concentrate on aviation, a sector where there is a clear demand for autonomous, electric vehicles to reduce emissions, improve efficiency and allow for continued growth in passenger volumes, despite a shortage of security cleared ground staff," said Chief Executive Officer David Keene.

Aurrigo International shares were trading 0.5% higher at 103.00 pence each in London on Friday morning.
