LONDON (Alliance News) - Antracite coal miner Atlantic Coal PLC on Tuesday said it has received a 37% increase in the reserve base for the Stockton mine in the US state of Pennsylvania.
Wardell Armstrong International Ltd, a mining consultancy, estimated the reserve at 2.2 million tonnes as of the end of December, compared to the 1.6 million estimate a year earlier.
Atlantic Coal said it thinks the additional reserves could increase the life of the mine by a further three years.
"We are pleased to announce this increase in Stockton's reserve base and subsequent expected mine life extension of three years," said Atlantic Coal Managing Director Steve Best.
