Antofagasta holds guidance despite temporary shutdown at Los Pelambres

24th Jul 2026 12:12

(Alliance News) - Antofagasta PLC on Friday said full-year production guidance remains unchanged despite disruption at its Los Pelambres plant in Chile.

The London-based miner focused on Chile said it conducted an "orderly shutdown" of Los Pelambres' processing plant and mining operations following a period of intense rainfall and power outages last Saturday.

The FTSE 100-listed company said production at the sulphide deposit in Chile's Coquimbo region had resumed as of Thursday and its full year guidance range for copper production of 650,000 and 700,000 tonnes remains unchanged.

"There has been no material impact to equipment or key infrastructure. This includes the El Mauro tailings dam, which has a series of surge ponds downstream of the dam that form part of the overall water management system currently in use and includes the controlled discharge of excess rainwater," Antofagasta said in a statement.

A further update on Los Pelambres will be provided along with half-year results on August 13.

Shares in Antofagasta were up 0.3% at 3,630.00 pence each in London on Friday.
