(Alliance News) - Aminex PLC on Friday said its subsidiary Ndovu Resources Ltd issued a notice of dispute to ARA Petroleum Tanzania Ltd and its parent company The Zubair Corporation LLC.
The notice was motivated by alleged breaches of obligations by ARA Petroleum under the farmout agreement and the joint operating agreement regarding the Ntorya gas development project in Tanzania.
Aminex, a Dublin-based oil and gas company with operations in Tanzania, said Dar es Salaam, Tanzania-headquartered ARA Petroleum has sought to replace the 2026 work programme and budget with successive alternative programmes that have not been approved by the other parties. Aminex said the alternative programmes have materially delayed drilling of the Chikumbi-1 well, which falls under the agreement, and resulted in "minimal substantive work being undertaken in 2026."
Following the issue of the notice, Ndovu and ARA Petroleum have 90 days to find an amicable resolution to the dispute. After this period, Ndovu may escalate the dispute to the London Court of International Arbitration and pursue its rights against Zubair as the parent company.
These developments follow a change of management at ARA Petroleum and a technical review of the Ntorya project.
Aminex said it "remains committed to working constructively with [ARA Petroleum], alongside TPDC and the Government of Tanzania to achieve the earliest possible development and production from Ntorya and remains willing to consider any appropriately funded and properly approved programme that demonstrably achieves that objective."
Aminex shares were up 7.7% at 1.40 pence on Friday afternoon in London.
