(Alliance News) - Amaroq Ltd on Tuesday announced the start of its 2026 resource drilling programme at the Nanoq gold project in South Greenland.
The Greenland-focused mine developer said three of its drill rigs are commencing work at Nanoq, initially focused on the central zone. It noted that previous drill results there included 187.4 grams per tonne of gold over 1.5 metres and 19.6g/t over 4.9 metres.
Amaroq said the new programme is intended to supplement the 2025 drilling dataset and further test the continuity, geometry and grade distribution of the mineralised system.
After this, the company said it expects drilling to step out along strike and test other structures, including the West 1 Zone, where it said surface results have provided up to 9.5g/t on what it believes is "a similar sized parallel structure".
Amaroq said the drilling is targeting activity broadly comparable in scale to the 4,807 metres it completed last year. It intends for the combined data to support the evaluation of a potential maiden mineral resource estimate later this year.
The firm also said that SGS Lakefield in Canada is conducting provisional metallurgical testwork to test the amenability of Nanoq mineralised material for processing, using the gravity and flotation flowsheet operating at the Nalunaq gold mine.
"If successful, this could indicate the viability of undertaking near-term bulk sampling of Nanoq, through Nalunaq facilities," Amaroq said.
Amaroq also plans to assess engineering works that could potentially start this year, "to enable earlier and more cost-effective site access from 2027 onwards".
"We are very excited to kick off the 2026 drilling programme at Nanoq, which we believe will be our next gold project in Greenland," Amaroq's Exploration Vice President James Gilbertson commented.
Amaroq shares were 0.1% higher at 106.14 pence on Tuesday in London.
