AIM WINNERS & LOSERS: Serica to miss production target on Triton halt

8th Oct 2025 10:36

(Alliance News) - The following stocks are the leading risers and fallers on AIM on Wednesday.

----------

AIM - WINNERS

----------

Oxford BioDynamics PLC, up 30% at 0.685 pence, 12-month range 0.255p-3.78p. The Oxford, England-based precision clinical diagnostics firm announces the development, alongside University of East Anglia researchers, of a new "highly accurate" blood test for myalgic encephalomyelitis, or chronic fatigue syndrome. "With this breakthrough, we are proud to enable a first-in-class test that can address an unmet need for a quick and reliable diagnostic for a complex, challenging-to-identify illness," says Chief Scientific Officer Alexandre Akoulitchev. Company says the new test has 96% accuracy, with 92% sensitivity and 98% specificity, with "unique markers based on how DNA is consistently folded in blood from ME/CFS patients" identified using OBD's EpiSwitch 3D genomics biomarker technology and advanced bioinformatic-AI suite. "UEA and OBD revealed hundreds of additional changes in CFS/ME patients, including sites found by DecodeME, which now provide a deeper understanding of the disease," OBD says. Adds that looking ahead, it wants to find an appropriate partner to co-develop or license the test. "The breakthrough also provides a basis for developing a similar test for post-Covid syndrome ('long Covid')...which shares overlapping symptoms with ME/CFS," OBD says.

----------

Conroy Gold & Natural Resources PLC, up 19% at 12.5p, 12-month range 2.15p-12.5p. The Ireland and Finland-focused gold exploration and development company closes "oversubscribed" non-brokered private placement, having raised GBP1.7 million aggregate through issuing 17.3 million shares at 10p each. Fundraise shares have a restriction period ending in four months, and each share will be accompanied by a warrant to subscribe for one further share at 17.0p during the next two years. Conroy says participants are primarily long-term value investors from North America. "The board is pleased to have closed the fundraise on an oversubscribed basis and welcomes the participation of both new and existing investors," says Chair John Sherman. "I believe the presence of new, long-term oriented North American investors with deep sector experience on our shareholder register will raise the profile of the company. These investors will also contribute meaningfully to the 'Discs' project going forward as we progress both targeted exploration work and ongoing discussions around material strategic asset-level investment." Conroy plans to use the net proceeds "for further geological work on the company's assets in Ireland, to continue with its activities in securing material asset-level investment, and for general working capital purposes".

AIM - LOSERS

Serica Energy PLC, down 12% at 187p, 12-month range 116.2p-213.5p. The North Sea-focused oil and gas producer warns that production will be below prior guidance due to problems at the Triton Floating Production Storage & Offloading unit. Explains that an issue with the flare system on the Dana Petroleum-operated Triton FPSO resulted in a temporary suspension of production from September 30. Says Dana has advised that production is likely to restart shortly, but expects rates to be severely limited until the root cause of the problem is identified and resolved. Serica now expects production to be below the 29,000 to 32,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day guidance range. Last month, the company reported that further maintenance was required at Triton, resulting in a temporary reduction in production. This followed a production suspension in January related to the impact of Storm Eowyn. "It is incredibly frustrating to once again be reporting on a non-operated asset that should be performing better than it is," comments Serica Chief Executive Chris Cox. "We are stepping up talks with the operator regarding the future running of the Triton FPSO, aiming to deliver a more robust performance for all stakeholders with production levels that match the subsurface potential."
