(Alliance News) - AG Barr PLC on Wednesday said it has "exclusive distribution rights" to Rockstar energy drinks in the UK and Ireland.
PepsiCo earlier on Wednesday said it agreed a USD3.85 billion takeover of the parent company of the energy drinks brand, Rockstar Energy Beverages.
PepsiCo currently has a distribution deal with the energy drinks maker in North America.
AG Barr said: "AG Barr has been a franchise partner of Rockstar since 2007 and retains the exclusive distribution rights for the Rockstar brand in the UK, Ireland and certain European territories. AG Barr has a long term contract, extending for several years, for the manufacture and sale of the Rockstar energy brand, which contributes approximately 8% of the group's sales volumes.
PepsiCo does not expect the deal to be material to its revenue or earnings per share in 2020. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2020.
PepsiCo's own energy drinks portfolio includes Mountain Dew's Kickstart, GameFuel, and AMP.
AG Barr shares were 0.2% higher 513.00 pence each in London on Wednesday afternoon.
