23rd Sep 2013 06:33

LONDON (Alliance News) - A.G. BARR plc (BAG.L), a soft drinks group, Monday reported a decrease in pre-tax profit for the first half, inspite of higher revenues, which were offset by increase in expenses. Before exceptional items, the profit before tax increased. The company said that the last year results were restated.

For the six-month period, the company reported profit before taxation of 13.2 million pounds, compared with 14.7 million pounds a year ago. Excluding exceptional items of 3.3 million pounds, the profit before tax increased 12.3 percent to 16.6 million.

After tax, profit attributable to equity holders was 10.06 million pounds or 8.69 per share, down from 11.55 million pounds or 10.03 per share last year. Before exceptional items, profit after tax was 13.09 million pounds or 11.30 pence per share.

Revenue for the period increased 5.8 percent to 128.7 million pounds, from prior year's 121.6 million pounds.

The company declared an interim dividend of 2.825 pence per share, payable on October 18, to shareholders of record on October 4.
