African Battery Metals Prepares Termite Mound Samples For Analysis

17th May 2019 11:48

LONDON (Alliance News) - African Battery Metals PLC on Friday said it is progressing exploration activities at its Kisinka copper-cobalt project in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The AIM-listed battery metal exploration and development company said two field geologists, five field technicians, two logistical support staff and 14 casual labourers were deployed from a temporary field camp at its Kisinka project.

As a result, a total of 663 termite mound samples were collected over three weeks on a grid covering the whole license area, and field activities concluded on Friday last week.

African Battery said sample preparation is being carried out and is scheduled to complete, shortly after which x-ray fluorescence spectrometry analysis will be carried out to identify anomalous levels of copper and cobalt.

"Our team coped well with difficult on-site logistics as grass levels remained high after late rains, and we recruited additional casual support staff to ensure timely completion of the field phase of activities," said Executive Director Paul Johnson.

"This initial programme has been carried out with speed and efficiency and bodes well for our ability to operate effectively in the the Democratic Republic of Congo," added Johnson.

African Battery shares were trading 8.3% lower on Friday at 0.41 pence each.
