Zambian Environmental Management Agency ("ZEMA") Update
BMR Mining PLC is pleased to announce that the Zambia Environmental Management Agency ("ZEMA") has approved the recently submitted Terms of Reference and Scoping Study proposed for the Company's full Environmental Impact Assessment ("EIA"). This approval is a necessary prelude before the Company's submission of the EIA study.
Prior to the submission of the Terms of Reference and Scoping Study, public consultations were held in Kabwe with interested and affected parties and other stakeholders.
The EIA involves in-depth technical field studies by competent experts in a variety of different disciplines. The bulk of the technical data collection has already been completed and will include the design of the pilot and main production plants.
BMR's consultants expect to submit the draft EIA study to ZEMA in September, following which the Company hopes to gain formal approval from ZEMA by the end of the year. Regular meetings have been, and will continue to be, held with ZEMA to progress approval of the EIA study once it is submitted
In the meantime, the peer review for the proposed Kabwe Pilot Plant designed to treat the WPT tailings, along with the planned feed rate, zinc cathode and lead sponge production, will start next week and is expected to be completed by the end of September.
Alex Borrelli, CEO and Chairman, commented:
"We have been working closely with ZEMA, through our consultants, as we progress towards the submission of our full EIA study.
"This initial approval is a further step towards the acceptance of our formal plans for the processing of tailings in our pilot plant."
