("zamano" or "the Group")
zamano launches new iPhone application, Publish-i, with the Irish Rugby Football Union
zamano PLC (AIM:ZMNO, IEX:ZAZ), a leading provider of interactive applications and services to mobile devices, today announces that its new joint venture Publish-i, its innovative smart-phone publishing application, has been selected by the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU) to allow supporters to download and read official match programmes.
The IRFU has selected Publish-i to enable supporters with either an iPhone or iPod touch to download the official programme for this Saturday's Ireland vs. South Africa match in the first instance. This allows supporters of both teams to access the official programme beyond the boundaries of the stadium, in a timely manner and in an extremely user friendly format. The application can then be retained on the customer's handset for future reference.
Publish-i was formed in 2009 as a joint venture between zamano and Pixelsoup Ltd, an award winning digital production company. It enables traditionally time-sensitive publications such as sports programmes to be accessed by a much wider audience.
Padraig Power, Commercial Director for the IRFU, commented: "Mobile phone applications are a logical next step in our digital strategy, and Publish-i has delivered a solution which allows us to extend our traditional match program to a much wider audience. By using innovative platforms such as this, we can build better connections with our supporters and keep them continuously informed with news and information about Irish Rugby, both at a local and international level".
John O'Shea, CEO of zamano, commented: "We are delighted that the IRFU has selected zamano's joint venture to connect with thousands of supporters in Ireland, South Africa and beyond.
"This application will afford sports fans the ability to access official match programmes wherever they are, and zamano is confident that other major sporting organisations will make take advantage of our solution and offer their fans this sort of access anywhere, anytime. This application is a significant development in the way that fans interact with sports clubs, transcending traditional geographic boundaries."
