Majestic Wine PLC13 February 2007 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 13 February 2007 MAJESTIC WINE PLC MAJESTIC WINE STAFF WIN 5 WSET AWARDS OF EXCELLENCE Majestic Wine are delighted to announce that 5 members of staff were awardedwith the Wine and Spirits Education Trust (WSET) "Awards of Excellence" atDiploma and Advanced Certificate level last night at the Vintners' Hall inLondon: Claire Dawson, our Swindon Store Manager who is currently on maternity leave,won the highest accolade - the Vintners' Cup, awarded annually to the topgraduate who achieved the highest aggregate mark in the 2 year Diploma exam.Claire was also awarded the Vintners' Scholarship for a bourse de voyage tovisit New Zealand's wine regions. Liam Tait, Manager of Majestic Warrington, won the Rafael Balao Lustau MemorialTrophy in his Diploma for a study visit to Jerez as a guest of Emilio Lustau SA. Adam Porter, Assistant Manager of Majestic Vauxhall, won the David BurroughsScholarship for a place on a WSET study tour to Spain's wine regions. Chris Burgess, Assistant Manager of Majestic Berkhamsted, won a CodorniuScholarship for a study tour to Spain. Russell Dent, Assistant Manager of Majestic Northampton, also won a CodorniuScholarship for a study tour to Spain. Tim How, Chief Executive said: "I am delighted that five of our staff have received WSET Awards of Excellencethis year. It shows the tremendous effort they have put in. Particularcongratulations go to Claire Dawson on being the top Diploma graduate." Nearly all Majestic retail staff are graduates and great emphasis is placed ontraining. All new retail staff sit the WSET Advanced Certificate after 6 monthsand we currently have 136 members of staff who either hold or are studying forthe 2 year WSET Diploma in Wines and Spirits. The WSET is the only wine and spirit education entity approved by theQualifications & Curriculum Authority, the UK Government's regulator foreducation.
