Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ 2014 in Normandy

Since 1990, the Games have been held every four years, between each Olympic Games and encompass every discipline of the sport. For two weeks, Normandy in France will be the focus of the horse world as it hosts the world's largest equestrian meeting (74 countries, 1,000 riders, 1,000 horses, 500,000 visitors and 500 million television viewers expected). The World Equestrian Games will bring together leading international champions in the eight disciplines of the FEI: Dressage, Jumping, Eventing, Driving, Vaulting, Reining, Para-dressage and Endurance. These 'World Championships' will mostly be held at Caen and will offer two full weeks of very high-level competition.

The plan to organise the World Equestrian Games was initiated by the region of Lower Normandy and taken forward jointly by the State, the French Equestrian Federation, the regions of Lower and Upper Normandy, the three departments of Lower Normandy, the city of Caen, Caen la mer, the equine industry and the French National Olympic and Sporting Committee (CNOSF). These organisations together now form the GIP [Public Interest Grouping] JEM-Normandie 2014.
