Meggitt group company, Whittaker Controls, today announced theaward of a contract to provide bleed bias venturi flow sensors to GEAviation for the GEnx engines used on the Boeing 787 and the Boeing747 aircraft. £ Terms of the contract were undisclosed. £ The Whittaker product is a venturi type flow meter that usessensed pressures to measure the airflow bleed from the engine to theECS system. The measurement required must be precise and accuracy mustbe maintained at higher flow rates, pressures and temperatures. £ The Whittaker sensor reflects the company's long experience indeveloping and proving this type of bleed air component for a varietyof aerospace platforms. £ Whittaker Controls provides a number of products to GeneralElectric programs for both aerospace and industrial applications. £ The Boeing 787 Dreamliner, in various configurations, will carryfrom 210 to 330 passengers on routes ranging up to 8,800 nauticalmiles. The Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental is the latest in the familyof 747 aircraft that meets airline requirements for a passengerairplane that serves the 400-to 500- seat market. \* TEDITOR'S NOTES: 1.
