LENI GAS AND OIL PLC
("LGO" or the "Company")
Well GY-664 Update, Trinidad.
LGO is pleased to announce that well GY-664 has been drilled to a total depth of 4,212 feet and has intersected with approximately 100 feet of the Lower Cruse Sandstone, the second primary target in the first of the Company's 30 new developments wells at the Goudron Field in Trinidad.
The well has encountered a total gross sand thickness now estimated to be some 1,300 feet in the Goudron, Gros Morne and Lower Cruse formations.
Electric logs will now be run to total depth before a 7 inch casing is set after which detailed log analysis will be used to determine the exact extent of oil pay and to design a production completion to be carried out by a work over rig.
Well Services Rig 20 will be move a short distance to the next drilling location, where the second redevelopment well will be spudded within about a week.
Neil Ritson, LGO Chief Executive, commented:
"The first of our programme of 30 new development wells, GY-664, has gone even better than expected and we have drilled over 1,300 feet of gross sand with numerous producible intervals. Once logging is complete we will be able to determine the oil production potential of all the reservoir intervals and the well will be completed for production."
