ProWaveTM Vermiculite Processing System Field Trial
e2v technologies plc, the specialist provider of technology solutions for high performance systems, announces today that agreement has been reached for the first commercial field trial installation of its ProWave vermiculite processing system.
The ProWave system is due to be commissioned over the next few months, running alongside conventional furnaces. Extended trials with unprocessed vermiculite from South Africa, China, Uganda, Bulgaria and India will be undertaken. The system will also function as a demonstrator for other potential customers and as a platform for continued system development.
Vermiculite is used in a number of different applications, including insulation, protective coatings and agriculture. Approximately 530,000 tonnes of vermiculite are estimated to be processed per annum, through an estimated 400 facilities around the world.
e2v's ProWave system utilises patented technology in a novel application of RF power to the processing of certain bulk materials. With respect to the processing of vermiculite, we believe the system is capable of delivering significant savings in energy consumption and also improvements in material yield.
Keith Attwood, CEO of e2v, commented:
"Working in partnership with a leading European vermiculite processing company on this first installation enables us to demonstrate our system's reliability and quality, together with the system's ability to transform the economics of vermiculite processing. We intend to provide initial feedback from this field trial with our interim financial results in November."
