Uruguay Mineral Exploration Inc. ("UME" or "the Company") (TSX VENTURE:UME) (LSE:UGY), a South American focused gold production and exploration company, announces today that it has appointed Mr. Mario Caron as Non-Executive Chairman of the Company with immediate effect.
David Fowler, UME Director and Chief Executive Officer commented, "We are delighted to welcome Mario to the role of Chairman of UME. Mario's experience in developing projects will be very important as the Company looks to develop the Arenal Deeps project and expand outside of Uruguay in the coming year."

Mr. Caron, aged 55, is a mining executive with over 30 years of experience in the mining industry including board and management expertise in operations, exploration, and capital markets as well as government relations, from projects in North, Central and South America, Africa and South-East Asia.
He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining from McGill University and is a member of the Quebec Order of Engineers and the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario.
Mr. Caron is currently the Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Axmin Inc and a Director of Tiomin Resources Inc. In the last 5 years, Mario has been but has since resigned as a Director of Tiberon Minerals Ltd. from July 2003 to August 2007, Dias Bras Exploration Inc. from June 2007 to June 2008 and Anaconda Mining Inc. from June 2007 to October 2009.
There is no other information required to be disclosed under Schedule Two, paragraph (g) of the AIM Rules for Companies.
