Update regarding the British Army's Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle upgrade project
SciSys PLC, AIM stock code: SSY, ('SciSys' or the 'Company') - the supplier of bespoke software systems, IT based solutions and support services to the Media Broadcast, Space, Government & Defence, Environment and Applications Support sectors - is pleased to provide an update on the British Army's Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle upgrade project.
Representatives of SciSys were present at Ampthill, Bedfordshire, when the UK Ministry of Defence ("MoD") recently announced the selection of Lockheed Martin UK to lead a multi-million pound contract as part of the major £1 billion upgrade of the British Army's Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle.
Lockheed Martin UK's Warrior Transformation Team ("WTT") will introduce major improvements to the current Warrior Armoured Fighting Vehicle, including fitting and integrating the CT40 weapon system, as well as an open electronic architecture system and improved armour protection.
SciSys is a member of the WTT with special responsibility for the electronics architecture. The Company anticipates entering into meaningful dialogue with Lockheed Martin over the coming weeks regarding a possible contract as part of the overall transformation programme.
This positive development follows the indication given by SciSys in its interim report in September that it anticipated some positive progress regarding a decision by the MoD on the Warrior Capability Sustainment Programme (WCSP).
Under the WCSP Lockheed Martin UK will be responsible for upgrades and enhancements designed to maximize the investment made in Warrior vehicles to extend their lives into the 2040s.
The Board of SciSys will provide a further update to the market when discussions have progressed.
