LENI GAS AND OIL PLC
("LGO" or the "Company")
Update, Goudron Field
LGO today announces the installation of additional oil sales capacity at the Company operated Goudron Field in Trinidad.
LGO sells oil from the Goudron Field through the Petroleum Company of Trinidad and Tobago ("Petrotrin") owned pipeline direct to the Pointe-a-Pierre refinery. Each sale requires the visit of Petrotrin staff to measure the sales volume. Recently this process has been at full capacity and therefore to accommodate the greater production volumes now available from the field the Company has installed a second sales tank at Goudron which will increase overall capacity by approximately 100%.
The new 370 barrel net sales tank was fabricated on site and has been installed in Tank Battery Station #134 and all the pipework has been commissioned. Once the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs issues the required certificate of use; which is expected in the next week, the new tank will be employed immediately and will increase total sales capacity to approximately 3,750 barrels per week, equivalent to 535 barrels of oil per day ("bopd").
In addition, progress has been made with plans to re-commission Tank Battery Station #207 where a risk assessment has been submitted for new water treatment pits and upgrading of the station; which includes replacing existing tankage totalling 800 barrels. This work is expected to start in the next month.
In order to continue the Phase 1 reactivation programme of up to 90 wells additional beam pumps have been ordered and it is now anticipated that a further ten will arrive in Trinidad from their manufacturer in China in the next 2 weeks and an additional ten in September.
Since the last update, field activity at Goudron has focused primarily on increasing sales capacity and preparing wells for the arrival of new pump jacks. The Company have been operating at full capacity close to 275 bopd until the new sales tank is installed and certified. We now expect to further increase production over the coming weeks and remain on target to produce at least 400 bopd by November 2013, one year after taking over operatorship of the field.
Neil Ritson, LGO Chief Executive, commented: "Recently we have had to reduce output in order to match our production level to the available sales capacity; however, the certification of the new tank will completely relieve this bottleneck. We are also in advanced discussions with Petrotrin on revised enhanced royalty terms, already granted to other field operators, and we expect to conclude those commercial negotiations shortly. Operational progress at Goudron remains firmly on plan and on budget. We remain very excited about the future potential."
