United Drug PLC04 May 2007 UNITED DRUG ACQUIRES UK BASED SPECIALS MEDICINES DISTRIBUTOR United Drug plc, a leading provider of services to healthcare manufacturers andpharmaceutical retailers in the UK and Ireland today (Friday, 4th May 2007)announced that it has acquired the entire share capital of Craig & HaywardLimited a leading supplier of specials medicines in the UK market. Craig & Hayward, based in Wallingford in Oxfordshire, employs 13 people, andacts as a 'one stop specials shop' for the retail pharmacy sector. A 'special'is a specially prepared product manufactured in response to a prescription tomeet a specific patient's requirements. The company differentiates itself fromcompetitors through its extensive supplier base, allowing it to source productto service all areas of the market, and its intensive customer service with thevast majority of orders filled within 24 hours. Net assets of the company at completion are expected to be approximately £1.2million. Speaking today, United Drug's Chief Executive, Liam FitzGerald said: "The acquisition of Craig & Hayward in the UK is a further implementation of our strategy to develop the business in higher value added niches within the healthcare supply chain.
