Aggreko PLC31 March 2006 Aggreko wins two significant contracts in Africa and the Middle East worth over $55m Aggreko plc, the world leader in the provision of temporary power, temperaturecontrol and oil-free compressed air solutions, is pleased to announce that ithas been awarded substantial contracts for the provision of temporary powergeneration in Kenya and in the Republic of Yemen. Together, these contracts callfor 150 MW of generating capacity and are likely to be worth in excess of $55mover the next two years. The Kenyan contract has been awarded by the Kenya Electricity Generating CompanyLtd ("KenGen") who are responsible for public power generation in Kenya. KenGenare wholly owned by the Kenyan Government. Under the agreement, Aggreko willsupply 100 MW of generating capacity for 12 months to supplement the Kenyangrid, which is facing severe shortages as a result of the prolonged droughtwhich is affecting many parts of East Africa. The water level in many of thecountry's dams, which determines the amount of hydro-electric power that can begenerated, is very low, and without additional generating capacity KenGen wouldbe unable to maintain electricity supplies. As is usual with contracts performedby Aggreko, equipment will be operational within weeks. The 100 MW will accountfor about 10% of the country's total generating capacity. The contract in the Republic of Yemen has been awarded by the Public ElectricityCorporation (PEC). Under the agreement, Aggreko will supply 50 MW of generatingcapacity for two years to power the development of infrastructure and servicesto support the rapidly-developing economy in the Republic of Yemen. Generatingcapacity will be operational in May 2006. Rupert Soames. Chief Executive of Aggreko, said: "We are delighted to have won two such important contracts, which re-affirms ourstrategy of providing immediately-available generating capacity torapidly-developing countries where there is a mismatch between the supply of,and demand for, electricity." "The Kenyan contract, which calls for 100 MW in a single location, will be thelargest temporary power-plant Aggreko has delivered, and it is the third majorcontract Aggreko has won in East Africa in the last 12 months." As is usual in such projects, implementation will start once associated bondsand guarantees are in place.
