Tata Steel registers increase in performance in FY'16

 

Jamshedpur, April 8, 2016: Tata Steel Limited completed FY'16 with an overall increase in Production and Sales volumes. The year registered its best ever performance in Hot Metal, Crude Steel, Saleable Steel production and total Sales.

The key production and sales figures for FY'16 are given below:

Major Highlights - FY'16

I. Production

· Best ever total agglomerate production of 13.81 million tonnes (Previous best 12.78 million tonnes in FY'15)

· Blast Furnaces have achieved lowest best ever coke rate of 380 Kg/thm (Previous best 443 Kg/thm in FY'15) and highest best ever coal rate of 168 Kg/thm (Previous best 126 Kg/thm in FY'15)

· Best ever Hot Metal production of 10.65 million tonnes (Previous best 10.16 million tonnes in FY'15)

· Best ever Crude Steel production of 9.96 million tonnes (Previous best 9.33 million tonnes in FY'15)

· Best ever Saleable Steel production of 9.70 million tonnes (Previous best 9.07 million tonnes in FY'15)

· Various Mills (Hot Strip, Cold Rolling, Merchant & New Bar Mills) have also achieved best ever production

 

II. Sales

· Steel Marketing & Sales has achieved its highest ever annual sales volume of 9.54 million tonnes (Previous best 8.75 million tonnes in FY'15)

· Best ever sales for Tata Astrum: 1.02 million tonnes (Previous best 0.91 million tonnes in FY'15) and for Tata Steelium Neo: 0.15 million tonnes (Previous best 0.12 million tonnes in FY'15) 

· Best ever sales of Value-added products: 0.53 million tonnes (Previous best 0.35 million tonnes in FY'15)

· Best ever sales in LPG segment: 0.30 million tonnes (Previous best 0.18 million tonnes in FY'15)

· Best ever ready build sales: 0.12 million tonnes (Previous best 0.11 million tonnes in FY'14)

 

III. Tata Steel Kalinganagar Update

With continuous and consistent efforts in a challenging environment, Kalinganagar team has taken the project from "Construction Phase" to "Testing & Commissioning Phase" during May'15 to Mar'16. Key Milestones achieved are:

· Battery-2 heating in May'15 followed by 1st coke pushing in Sept'15

· Hot Strip Mill rolled its first coil in Oct'15

· Start of Sinter Production in Jan '16

· Start of Hot Metal production in Mar'16

· 1st Heat of SMS cast in Mar'16
