Transfer of Treasury Shares

Spectris plc announces that on 15 September 2008, the following ordinary shares have been transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option allotments under the Spectris Executive Share Option Schemes:

1,163 shares at 589 pence per share (1999 ESOS)

837 shares at 589 pence per share (1996 ESP)

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding the total of 9,694,495 ordinary shares now held in treasury) is 115,310,628.
