TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFERS

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that a total of 11,101 ordinary shares were transferred from treasury shares on 26 October 2012 in respect of the Company's share plans.

Following the transfer, Anglo American plc has a total of 14,670,967 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,390,788,786 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
