Transfer of Treasury Shares

Spectris plc announces that on 18 March 2008, the following ordinary shares have been transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option allotments under the Spectris 1988 Executive Share Option Scheme:

1,538 shares at 238.8032 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding the total of 9,701,766 ordinary shares now held in treasury) is 115,303,357.
