TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFER

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that on 8 and 9 November 2010 respectively, 12,607 and 15,321 shares were transferred out of the Company's holding of treasury shares in order to satisfy maturing share options under the Company's SIP, SAYE and ESOS plans.

Following the transfers, Anglo American plc has a total of 23,129,231 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,319,803,483 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
