GENERAL TEXT AMENDMENT

The following amendments have been made to the TREASURY STOCK announcement released on 3 December 2012 at 12.53pm under RNS No 5849S

- 4,090 ordinary shares transferred from treasury shares

- 14,582,272 ordinary shares held in treasury following the transfer

- 1,390,877,481 ordinary shares in issue

TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFERS

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that a total of 4,090 ordinary shares were transferred from treasury shares on 30 November 2012 in respect of the Company's share plans.

Following the transfer, Anglo American plc has a total of 14,582,272 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,390,877,481 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
