Transfer of Treasury Shares

Spectris plc announces that on 3 August 2010, the following ordinary shares were transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option allotments under the Spectris 1996 Executive Share Plan and the 1999 Executive Share Option Scheme:

1,000 shares at 357.5 pence per share (1996 Plan)

1,000 shares at 525 pence per share (1999 Scheme)

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding the total of 9,180,398 ordinary shares now held in treasury) is 115,824,725.
