Transfer of Treasury Shares

Spectris plc announces that on 20 July 2009, the following ordinary shares have been transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option allotments under the Spectris 1996 Executive Share Option Scheme:

5,000 shares at 406.25 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding the total of 9,605,563 ordinary shares now held in treasury) is 115,399,560.
