TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFERS

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that 21,658 ordinary shares were transferred from treasury shares on 7 and 8 June 2012 in respect of the grant and vesting of awards under the Company's share plans.

Following the transfer, Anglo American plc has a total of 15,351,006 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,390,103,927 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
