Hammerson plc transaction in own shares

On 10 July 2009, Hammerson plc transferred 500,000 ordinary shares of 25p held as treasury shares to the Hammerson Employee Benefit Trust.

The Company's total issued share capital following the transfer comprises 696,181,170 ordinary shares of 25p each with one voting right per share in addition to the remaining balance of 500,000 shares held in treasury.
