TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFER

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that on 11 and 12 November 2010 respectively, 47,000 and 16,896 shares were transferred out of the Company's holding of treasury shares in order to satisfy maturing share options under the Company's ESOS plan.

Following the transfers, Anglo American plc has a total of 23,065,335 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,319,867,379 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
