Transfer of Treasury Shares

Spectris plc announces that on 11 July 2008, the following ordinary shares have been transferred from treasury stock for the purposes of employee share option allotments under the Spectris Savings Related Share Option Scheme:

276 shares at 589 pence per share

164 shares at 618 pence per share

Following the above transfer, the total number of Spectris plc ordinary shares in issue (excluding the total of 9,696,495 ordinary shares now held in treasury) is 115,308,628.
