TREASURY SHARES - TRANSFERS

In accordance with Listing Rule 12.6.4, Anglo American plc announces that a total of 1,622,876 ordinary shares were transferred from treasury shares between 25 and 27 February 2013 in respect of the Company's share plans.

Following the transfers, Anglo American plc has a total of 12,330,090 ordinary shares held in treasury and a total of 1,393,132,356 ordinary shares in issue, excluding treasury shares.
