TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Close Brothers Group plc (the 'Company') announces that on 24 November 2009 it transferred 1,400 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans. The transfer price was 428 pence.

Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 5,195,741 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 144,433,546 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
