TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES
Close Brothers Group plc ('the Company') announces that on 23 December 2008 it transferred 20,628 ordinary shares of 25 pence each from treasury to participants in its employee share plans. The transfer price was 436.32 pence.
Following the transfer of these shares, the Company holds 5,732,687 of its ordinary shares in treasury and has 143,740,479 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
The Company also announces a correction to the 'Transaction in Own Shares' announcement released on 7 October 2008 relating to a transfer of 6,446 ordinary shares from treasury to participants in its employee share plans (RNS Number: 3222F). This announcement was released in error and should be disregarded AS NO SUCH TRANSFER WAS IN FACT EFFECTED. The correct number of ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares) at 7 October was 144,819,851. The correct number of ordinary shares held in treasury at 7 October was 4,653,315.
As at 31 October 2008 and 30 November 2008, the total number of shares in issue was 143,935,792 excluding 5,537,374 shares held in treasury.
