TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES

Kazakhmys PLC announces that on 24 April 2012 it purchased from J.P. Morgan Securities Ltd. 175,900 ordinary shares at an average price of 852.4411 pence per share. The highest price paid was 860.5 pence per share and the lowest price paid was 843.0 pence per share. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the above purchase, Kazakhmys PLC holds 10,386,330 ordinary shares in treasury and has 525,031,631 ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares).
