Spectris PLC16 March 2007 Spectris plc: Transaction in own shares Spectris plc announces that on 16 March 2007 it purchased 100,000 of its 5pordinary shares at a volume weighted average price paid per share of 845.680p.Spectris plc purchased these shares via Hoare Govett Limited's affiliate, ABNAMRO Bank N.V., London Branch. The highest price paid per share was 848.5p, and the lowest price paid was 844p. The shares purchased will be held as treasury shares. Following the abovepurchase, Spectris plc holds 500,000 shares in treasury. The total number of ordinary shares in issue (excluding treasury shares) is124,494,993.
