Transaction in own shares

TOTAL S.A. (the "Company") announces that on August 1, 2012, pursuant to the share buyback programme announced on May 11, 2012, the Company purchased 340,000 of its Ordinary Shares at a weighted average price of 37.875 euros per share to be held in treasury. The highest price was 38 euros and the lowest price was 37.565 euros.

On August 2, 2012, the Company purchased 220,000 of its Ordinary Shares at a price of 38.375 euros per share to be held in treasury. The highest price was 38.50 euros and the lowest price was 37.95 euros.

Following these transactions, the Company has a total of 2,365,134,263 Ordinary Shares in issue, of which 111,343,878 are held as treasury shares (held either directly or through its indirect subsidiaries).
