Transaction in Own Shares July 12, 2013 - Shire plc (LSE: SHP, NASDAQ: SHPG) (the "Company") announcesthat, in accordance with the authority granted by shareholders at the Company'sAnnual General Meeting on April 30, 2013, it purchased 9,701 of its ordinaryshares of 5 pence each ("Ordinary Shares") on July 11, 2013 through both directpurchases of Ordinary Shares, and through the purchase of Ordinary Sharesunderlying ADRs. The highest and lowest price paid for the directly acquiredOrdinary Shares was 2230.00 pence per share and 2202.00 pence per sharerespectively, and for those Ordinary Shares acquired though the purchase ofADRs was 3366.33 cents per share and 3342.33 cents per share respectively. The purchased shares will be held as treasury shares. Following the abovepurchase, the Company holds 9,547,321 Ordinary Shares as treasury shares andhas 553,308,373 Ordinary Shares in issue (excluding treasury shares). The purchases were made by an independent third party which makes its tradingdecisions independently of, and uninfluenced by, the Company. The independenceof the third party enables the Company to continue to purchase Ordinary Shares(including Ordinary Shares underlying ADRs) during close periods and otherprohibited periods, should they arise.
